It all begins with an idea. Often my work can start as a response to nature, music, language, or even a feeling. I am influenced by both Abstract Expressionism and Japanese art and philosophy .

As an emotive painter, my work expresses my emotional response to my subject rather than painting a purely realistic one. If I paint a landscape I do not try to represent exactly what I see in front of me, but rather an expressive response to that landscape.

I use spontaneity of marks with visible brushstrokes, texture and layers and love creating abstract art as it is an expression of the artists soul.
